Hawthorne Dual-Brand Marriott | Hawthorne, California

This hotel marks two more firsts as Marriott’s first dual-branded modular project and Marriott’s largest prefabricated development to-date. Located just two miles from SpaceX and a short drive from LAX, the 198 module project features a Marriott Courtyard with 221 rooms and a 133-room TownePlace Suites extended-stay hotel on a 4.2-acre L-shape parcel.

The 354 room project at the corner of Hawthorne and El Segundo boulevards, just 6 miles from LAX, is opened it’s doors in November of 2018, just 14 months from the first module being craned into place.

Guerdon Modular Buildings constructed the Hawthorne Marriott modules using assembly-line production in a climate-controlled plant. The prefabricated hotel rooms arrived on-site outfitted with furniture, carpets, curtains and artwork. After the 900 mile delivery from Boise, Idaho, modules were craned into place and connected to electric, plumbing and other utility lines.

Modular buildings require fewer trades on-site, are much quicker to erect, and are rapidly gaining popularity among developers because of the increasing costs and frustrations associated with conventional construction methods.

Marriott International opened its first hotel built with modular rooms in late 2016 in Sacramento County — the 97-room Folsom Fairfield Inn and Suites.
