Rebuilding Maui: Modular Homes for Lahaina Families
In the wake of the devastating Maui wildfires of 2023, Guerdon had the privilege of contributing to recovery efforts by delivering 27 modular homes to the Kilohana Group Housing site in Lahaina. Built at our Boise, Idaho facility, these homes were constructed to meet rigorous housing standards, ensuring durability and adaptability for the affected families.
Guerdon began construction on October 3, 2024, completing the first home in just 12 days. Over the following weeks, these homes traveled 3,150 miles—by truck to Seattle, then by barge to Maui—the first 4 arriving on November 1. The first families received their keys on November 22, marking a significant milestone in the journey to recovery.
These homes are built to last for decades and can be relocated if future housing needs change. This flexibility and quality set them apart from traditional mobile or manufactured housing, showcasing the advantages of modular construction.
For Guerdon, this project was about more than delivering homes—it was about providing a foundation for families to rebuild their lives. As our CEO shared, “Every module we build reflects our pride in quality and our understanding of the importance of this moment for the Maui community. We’re not just building houses; we’re creating homes for people who need them more than ever.”
This project demonstrates how modular construction can respond rapidly and effectively to housing crises, combining speed with uncompromising quality to support recovery efforts.
