Plumbing Subtrade Overview
In this video, we review and give a brief overview of the standard plumbing elements built in the modules at Guerdon’s Boise, Idaho factory and the scope of work contractors finish on-site. You’ll visually see how modules leave the factory with completed interior finishes and begin to understand the delineation from factory scope to on-site contractor scope. This is not a full list of specifications, each project should be thoroughly reviewed to understand what elements are included or excluded from respective scopes of work.
Plumbing finishes typically include:
- showers,
- sinks,
- toilets,
- Garbage disposals,
- Fridge, dishwasher, laundry supply lines,
- and the corresponding drains.
Most projects include appliances that are not plugged in or connected.
All this plumbing is stubbed out to an accessible space, typically in the corridor where most on-site sub-trade work is performed.
The video allows you to look through the walls to uncover the plumbing lines that were completed in the factory.
You’ll find stubs for
- hot & cold supply lines, cross-over connections
- Return drain lines
- Vent lines
Once the modules are stacked, on-site plumbers will hook up the water from the city supply and bring that water into the building.
Water supply lines are run through the corridors, connecting hot and cold pipes to each unit.
To connect the Drain Waste & Vent pipes, on-site plumbers cut holes in the floor and ceiling.
Making connections vertically through all levels; continuing those runs to connect with the city’s services.
In summary, almost everything within each living unit (including pipes, finishes, and appliances) comes complete from the factory. The on-site plumber’s main scope is centered on installing pipe and making connections within the corridor.
