Prototype Walkthrough
Jan. 10, 2017 – One huge advantage to Guerdon’s modular process is the opportunity to walk-through a finished unit weeks before full scale production begins.
When a project’s timetable allows, Guerdon will produce a few modular units and assemble them at our facility as a ‘Prototype’. This creates a great opportunity for developers, general contractors, engineers, architects, and on-site subcontractors to wrap their head around every detail of the project. Upon viewing the prototype, sub trades gain a better understanding of the role they will play in the final construction and developers have an opportunity to review and make final adjustments.
Prototype demonstrations are not restricted to single story modules. We’ve brought in a crane to stack multistory prototypes to ensure that everyone involved is clear on exactly how these projects come together.
When preparing to build a 410 room hotel for Yellowstone National Park, we went through the exercise to crane set a 3 story, 6 module, 12 room prototype. It was toured by countless visitors and played an integral role in assisting the developers in important finish decisions. The hotel, including the prototype portion, is now complete and housing guests in Yellowstone National Park.
